General - Sync

You should use the Sync button regularly to download new data from the server. This allows your mobile device to receive updated information, e.g. about newly added inventory items or new field service jobs that have been created in Micronet Job Costing and assigned to you. The Sync button also uploads completed work back to the main Micronet installation (e.g. the Micronet base station), such as signatures and completed field service jobs.

It is recommended that, at the very minimum, you synchronise your device each morning before work commences. You can then synchronise at any time throughout the day to check for newly assigned jobs or other new data.

Technical Tip

If Signature Capture is turned on using ODBC, you have the option to sync signatures only. This uploads the signatures to the Micronet base station and is faster than syncing all data. The number of days before a user is forced to sync all files is configurable. By default, it is set to 5 days. Contact Micronet for more information about this option.

To synchronise your mobile device with Micronet:

  1. From the Micronet Mobile Applications main menu, select the GENERAL menu.
  2. Select the Sync option.

If the option to sync signatures only is not turned on, Micronet downloads any new jobs for the current user, uploads other information and redisplays the GENERAL menu

  1. If the option to sync signatures only is turned on, Micronet displays a message asking if you want to sync signatures only.
  2. Select Yes to sync signatures only, or select No to synchronise all data.

If you selected Yes, Micronet uploads signatures only to the Micronet base station then redisplays the GENERAL menu.

If you selected No, Micronet downloads any new jobs for the current user, uploads other information and redisplays the GENERAL menu.
